Ask Me NC is a statewide initiative focused on improving the lives of North Carolina’s veterans, service members, and their families by starting with a simple, powerful question: “Have you or a family member ever served in the military?”
Many veterans and military family members don’t easily share their service history. This can result in missed opportunities for support, services, and connection. Whether in a doctor’s office, at a housing intake session, during a college advising meeting, or in a community program, asking this question helps reveal important context that can lead to better care, stronger outcomes, and more inclusive systems.
At its heart, Ask Me NC is about:
- Increasing awareness of the unique needs and strengths of our military-connected communities
- Giving professionals and service providers the tools to engage more meaningfully
- Encouraging those who have served, and their families, to share their stories and speak up for their needs
If you aren’t asked, you can always say, “Ask Me.” Because every story of service deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.
